Jake was sitting, alone, as he watched the brother and sister leave. As he stood up to stretch he realized that he forgotten to lock the elevator, as he hears them open. Cursing himself silently, he picks up his katana and unsheathes it out of instinct, and walks into the hall, expecting trouble. Instead he finds a woman who is only a few years older then himself. Jake did a one over to make sure she wasn’t Infected.

As he was doing this he couldn’t help but realize that she was a beauty of a woman. She had black hair, deep forest green eyes, and a good complexion. She was a few inches shorter then him. And he noticed her feminine features as well. He noticed that her breasts were large but not too large. And her other curves were well honed. And for the first time since the outbreak at his school he felt a raw, aching hunger. As the night progress he battled this hunger for he didn’t want to break his promise to Tori.

“Hey you, what you doing here?” Jake asks. He’s short on the pleasantries for he doesn’t know if she is friend or foe, or if she is in fact infected with the disease.

“I do have a name, you know.” She promptly replies.

“Well I don’t know it and in all honesty I don’t care about it, tell me your business then I’ll decide if you live or not.” Jake says impatiently.

“Fine, all I was trying to do was find a nice safe hovel to hole myself in for a little while, you just so happened to be here too. Happy?” she replies sharply. Jake thought to himself as she was saying this,“This is going to be a long night.”

“What did I do to deserve being stuck with these fuck ups?” Tori thought to herself as she ran from the howls and snares that sounded like they were only a few feet behind her make shift crew. She pulled out a Beretta 92, 9mm pistol from one of her holsters, turned the safety off and rushed towards a garage door, where her Humvee was parked. As she neared the door she heard sounds on the inside and pulled out her Ruger Blackhawk, and turned its safety off, “Just in case. Jake always said that if you have any doubt the gun you have is enough always have a back up.” She knocks on the door three times before she moves out of the way, as a monstrous canine bursts through the door.

The dog was salivating from the mouth, as it turned around to face Tori, who had readied her Beretta and was aiming at the head of the monstrosity. As the beast started to bound its way towards her she let a bullet go, and saw it pass through its head and saw blood splatter on the street, letting her know it was, truly dead. Areol knelt down by the dog with her own Beretta, though this one was a P-018, 9mmP.

“This was a Siberian Husky, though I guess that doesn’t matter.” Areol started

, “Doesn’t your boyfriend want a husky?” she asked Tori.

“He did, though I don’t know how he’s doing. Though I wish I knew.” Tori replied sadly. As she started to enter the door, another canine jumped out at her, before it could reach her though, Areol unloaded her P-018 into the beast. As she classifies the breed, which was a Bloodhound, she gets on Tori for being too careless. Then the group quickly goes in and closes the door, as they hear the howls of more canines.

“Well young ladies how do you suppose we get through this?” The ex-Marine asks Tori and Areol. “Well?” It was showing that he had very little patience for them even though they had just saved him from being dog food.

“That’s easy, honestly, we are going to go to my mans safe house, and from there you will be taken to his ‘friends’ base.” Tori promptly stated. At this statement the group of men and women started to look uneasy, for in these times a different faction normally meant death by those who came in unannounced. “How will we know if they will accept us without killing us on sight?” someone from the back asked.

“He’s my man and they owe him a lot of favors.” She replied. Then she tells Areol to go and prep her Humvee for they are leaving in a few minutes once they have all their weapons and ammo. Ten minutes later the garage door opens and Tori speeds out towards the open doors of the complex wall and go out into untame country. She started heading east hoping that Jake was still where she left him when they had to go their separate ways.

“How did I ever get myself into situation like these” Jake thought to himself as the girl, whose name is Alaana Riz, showered in a bathroom to rooms down. He now had a companion but not with the person he wants. The more he started to think about Tori the more he remembered why he decided to stay at this god forsaken fortress of undead. All in hopes to hold his love again, that is of course if she is still his, or wants his love. Then he started to ponder how she was able to get past his defenses for he had video recorders on all of the major stair cases and main doors. Jake then decided that it was when he gave Mike and his sister Rachael over to his ‘friends’. Jake is snapped out of his train of thought as Alaana comes into his room, in her naked glory, shivering and asking for a towel and some clothing to wear. “How did I ever get myself into situation like these” Jake thinks again “At this rate I won’t be able to stay loyal to Tori. Great, just fucking great. Tori, please come save me from this insanity.”

Over the next few days Jake did his best to avoid Alaana, but, alas, to no avail for she followed him like a shadow. She would ask him questions about anything and everything she could think of, stuff as mundane as his favorite colour, to things he wouldn’t reveal like who his ‘friends’ where, and their location. It got to the point that he would wake up thirty minutes before his alarm went off just to escape her constant bombardment of questions. On the sixth day of this torture, he noticed a dirt cloud a few miles west, this started to disturbed him for he knew not if these people, if they were still people, were friend or foe.

Sighing to himself, he propelled himself up from his down position in his room, feeling fatigued as he heard Alaana coming down the hall. He hoped he could give her to these newcomers if they were still human, for his ‘friends’ haven’t contacted him in a few days. And he hoped they could give him a lift so see how his ‘friends’ were doing. But he had learned not to hope for such things.

“You know, you can try to talk to me.” Alaana stated breathily, as she moved closer to Jake, and started caressing his arm. “I don’t bite, well not like the creatures outside that is.”

Jake had his teeth clenched tight as she started to move her hands up and down his arm, igniting a fire that laid deep in him. A fire he has been trying to control since Alaana got into his base. “Woman, if you wish to live another day to make these stupid comments you’d best move away.” Jake said to her, not even trying to hide his rage and bitterness. “You aren’t the one I want to be with, and until I can contact my ‘friends’ you best leave me be. Plus your stay here is a temporary one.” And with that Jake walked away from her to go get ready to ‘greet’ his guests that were only a few miles away now.

As Jake walked away Alaana watched him, thinking to herself, “I will make you mine, this I promise you. Especially since I want you, and I always get what I want.” As she was walking out of his room, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. It looked like a picture on the bathroom mirror. As she moved closer to inspect it, she noticed it was a picture of Jake and an unknown woman, in the picture Jake had a military hair cut, and he looked beyond happy as his arms were around the woman. Alaana shrieked and went to go look for Jake to ask him about this mystery woman, and what she meant to him, especially when he now had her, he wouldn’t need anyone else.

Tori was speeding as she neared the Holiday Inn that Jake uses as a base of operations. She felt a faint flutter in her stomach as she realized that she was about to see her man again, someone whom she hasn’t seen in a few months. Areol couldn’t understand Tori’s urgency and anticipation of this meeting. “You’re going to be fine, though personally I don’t doubt it if he found someone else already.” She told Tori, who just dismissed the statement. She knew that Jake wouldn’t cheat or stray from her, it just wasn’t in his nature. Tori slowed to a stop as she came to the entrance of the Holiday Inn, to her surprise there were a lot of Reanimated walking about. Tori suddenly felt despair as her thoughts suddenly went to Jake. That was until she saw a flag, which was black and white waving from one of the windows, Jake own signature flag one of truce, and kinsman ship. Tori honked her horn thrice, telling him that it was her. Suddenly the flag dropped and the lights came on showing her the best way through the parking lot. She slowly started to drive towards the entrance to the Holiday Inn.

Jake was waving his makeshift flag as he heard three honks from the Humvee, he immediately dropped the flag and turned on the lights that showed the safest way to the --front of the building, feeling happy for he was sure this was his Tori. As he was doing this he heard a shriek come from his room and what sounded like a mirror breaking. Cursing, he turned around and saw Alaana looking at him, and she was furious. She started to stalk towards him, but he pushed past her. He wasn’t going to allow this woman get in his way of seeing the one he loved. But as he was going past her, she grabbed his arm and pulled him to her.

“Who is she?”

“Who’s who? Oh if you don’t let go I will hurt you.”

“I’m not letting go until I know who the fuck the little skank is that’s trying to steal YOU from ME!” she shrieked at him. Jake heart suddenly hardens as he hit her in her stomach forcing the wind out of her.

“She is my lover, and my wife. I’ll be damned if I was yours. I don’t even like you, and if anyone is the skank around here it’s you.” And with that Jake left her there with tears streaming down her face as she defeated and lost. But she wasn’t going to let him go without a fight. She struggled to her feet and started to follow him.

As Jake neared the bottom of the flight of stairs that he flew down. He came to an erupt stop. He couldn’t believe what he saw, it was Tori and she looked exactly like she did the day she left him to go form a colony. Jake felt a rush of relief, love, worry, and weariness as he ran out of the stairway to go and hold Tori, unknowingly, into the hands of a Reanimated. He cursed inwardly as he heard a rang shout out, and saw the side monstrosities head explode spilling out the beings gray matter all over the wall. Wide-eyed Jake looked over and saw Tori coming at him with a smug look on her face as she neared him.

“Looks like you saved me this time, babe.” Jake said from where he laid.

“Yea, well, it was time for me to start repaying you.” Tori said as she started to laugh quietly as she pulled him up. The only thing Jake could think about was how good it felt to hear Tori’s voice again after all this time.

“So what’s the game plan?” Jake asked Tori.

“We are going to the colony you helped build.” She responded

“My ‘friends’?”

“Yes hun.” At this response Jake shrugged and said ok as she started to lead him to the Humvee. Jake started to tell her that they needed to go get all of his weapons from his base-o-operations, when they heard glass start to shatter. Tori turned to see a petite Hispanic woman who looked piss and winded. She looked at Jake who eyes were on this woman, but there wasn’t kindness or compassion at all in his demeanor. All that she felt was his rage coming off of him. It became apparent that this woman had tried to do something to Jake and he retaliated. Tori sighed quietly.

She saw and erupt movement from where Jake was then heard a gunshot go off and she felt herself fall. She looked up in shock at Jake, he didn’t shot a gun, he took a bullet from one. She heard Areol shout something but couldn’t respond, all she could think about was what Jake had done for her. Tori pushed him off of her and stood up, facing the woman who dared to hurt HER man. She numbly raised her weapon and opened fired, blindly. She hit the Hispanic woman in the chest, right leg, left arm, and both shoulders. As she neared the woman her rage became uncontrollable and she placed one clean shot right between the woman’s eyes.

“Fuck me!” Jake exclaims from clenched teeth. He pushed himself up into a sitting position. “Tori, take your friend and go up to the ninth level and all of my weapons and equipment are on that level right next to the left.” At this Tori nods to him, then looks at Areol and points to the building and takes off with Areol in toll. Jake exhales and pushes himself into a standing position, and walks to Tori’s Humvee where he slides into the passenger seat. Then he notices all the people in the back of the vehicle. Turning around he looks at everyone back there.

“Who are yall?” Jake asks.

“We’re survivors, our colony was overrun with Swarm.” Said the military looking man.

“Swarm?” Jake asks.

“Yes, Swarm, its what we classified the dogs, cats, ro----” he begins.

“Oh, those are Scouts, not Swarm, they go and look for food for the herd then come the Carriers. This way is nice, easy, and simple.” Jake begins, “Plus who cares what their called, as long as they can be killed, no?” At this the man’s face starts to become red. “Oh, just so you know, where we are going people don’t like those who act like they know everything just an FYI.”

“Fine, we’ll go your way, though just know we go unwillingly.” The guy retorts.

“Don’t care, just as long as I get you there alive.” At this statement the man finally stopped talking. Jake sighed, and rested his weary head on the head rest and shut his eyes. Hopefully they get everything,Jake thought to himself, I have some weapons up there that need to be fixed. Jake heard a sound that originated from the Holiday Inn, he opened his eyes, and looked toward the Inn to see Tori and her friend coming back with multiple bags, letting him know that they got everything. He shut his eyes and allowed the darkness to overtake his weary body.

Chapter 12

“Is he supposed to be asleep?” Areol ask. She was studying the man that her superior had risked the officials for; curious of what Tori saw in him. She did have to admit that, given the circumstances he was good to look at, if you like scarred and rugged men. She couldn’t imagine her leader/friend sleeping or even kissing this man. The more she thought about it the more confused she got. Tori noticed this happening and asked her what was wrong, Areol replied that nothing was.

Jake awoke in a bed with a heavy blanket on top of him, and he instinctively went for a pistol that he normally slept with under his pillow, to find nothing. Upon finding this, he shot up, adrenaline pumping through his veins, as he swung his legs off the bed and bolted to the nearest wall that didn’t have a door or a window. In the process of him doing this Tori had walked into the room. Seeing his reaction she started to laugh.

“What’s so funny!?!” Jake asked, eyes wide.

“Your face, ahhh, priceless.” She responded then fell into another fit of laughter. She went over to him and gave him a tight hug, “I’ve missed you Jake, more than you know.”

“I have missed you too, Tori, everyday my only thought was seeing your face again. Alive of course, cause it’d suck if I had to see then shoot you as an undead.” He said, and then regretted saying it as soon as he saw her face.

“Oh, I get it, you don’t want to shoot me as one of those freaks, but you’ll shoot me as I still breathe. Is that correct?” she asked him, with her face scrunched up.

“Uhhhh, no?” was Jakes oh so smart reply. At this, she started to laugh again, much to his shock. “What did I do?” he asked. She quickly kisses him to shut him up. He was surprised by how much heated passion she kissed him with. As well as how fast his shaft had swollen, becoming harder than a piece of wood. She felt his erection and pulled away, making him whimper.

“Down boy, first things first you gotta meet everyone.”

“Can’t they wait just thirty more minutes?” he asked pleadingly. She laughs and replies with, “No hun, they can’t, so come on let’s get this over with, I know how much you hate people.” Sighing he submitted to her and walked with his head down in mock despair. He followed her down the stair case, and out into the blinding light of the sun which lit up the entire compound that he was in. “Home Sweet Home”, he thought to himself bitterly.

As they walked, they talked remembering friends of old and talking about friends new. As well as some of the things, each as seen since being separated all those months ago, and that was when Tori told Jake about what had happened at the colony she made. Jake understood since he had watched the infected work before on people he couldn’t save while he was in the Holiday Inn. He knew all too well how the infected worked, and he didn’t like it, it seemed as if they had a hive mind.

“So, uh, Tori I got a question.” Jake told her.

“And that is?” she replied, which then Jake asked, “It’s about your new friend Ariel, no that’s not right, Arial, no not it….”

“Areol?”

“Yea her, is she my replacement? Or something, she keeps looking at me funny, starting to piss me off honestly…” at this Tori laughed aloud, not believing what Jake was implying. “No, sweetheart, she’s not your replacement, but I couldn’t say the same about that Hispanic chick I saw you with now can I?”

“WHAT??!?!?!” Jake exclaimed, “Oh hell no! That little bitch came into my safe haven and came on to me and decided to say I was hers when I kept telling her to pound sand.” At this Tori raised an eyebrow and asked, “Oh really? So nothing happened?”

“HELL NO! I made a promise to you, whom I love and I planned on keeping it, even if I died the next day, you are the one I want to----” Tori stopped him from talking by placing a kiss on his lips.

“I knew I could trust you honey; now we’re almost there look sharp now.”

“Shit more people.”

Chapter 13

After walking for what seemed like an hour, chatting and catching up Tori brought Jake to the auditorium inside the old business building they were in. As Jake demeanor became more on guard, Tori poked him in the side trying to get a ruse out of him, but to no prevail. He opened the door and entered the hell that was awaiting him, much to his shock, instead of getting yelled at and berated for abandoning his post, the people that he saved and helped make this colony were there to welcome him back with thanks and some drinks. He looked for Tori but she was nowhere to be found, when he did find her she was talking to the scientist that Jake had saved awhile back.

“Yo, Tori!” Jake exclaimed as he ran up to the pair.

“Yes?” she asked, wondering what it was her man wanted.

“What are yall talking about?”

“Well the doc here uhh…” she started.

“Cid Cotton.” He stated. “Or if you want CC since that’s what I was called as a kid.”

“Right Cid here thinks he knows how everything started and a way to stop it from happening.” Tori told Jake.

“Really?” He asked, in which Cid replied that he did and he had everything he needed in order to make what was necessary to send someone back in time but not enough power to bring them back to the present. And that the person to be sent back must be able to stop it, as well as not cause any rifts or change in history. After telling this Cid walked away to leave the couple pondering on what would and should be done.

“If we get the items he needs, who would go back?” Tori asked Jake.

“Hell if I know, no one would want to do it and for a good reason, there’s a chance that they might not succeed, even if they do they wouldn’t be able to come back to the ones they love now would they?” Jake pondered. He looked at Tori, “But we shall deal with that when the time comes, come on lets go and rest we need it no we’ve been here for a while now.”

“Sure.” Tori replied, knowing full well what Jake had in planned, smiling. Following Jake out of the auditorium and bidding her friends good night.

Back in Jake’s room the couple held on to each other and kissed with fiery passion, Jack licking and biting Tori’s neck and shoulders, and Tori clawing at Jakes exposed back. Tori was careful not to hit were Jake was shot or the bandages that were on his body. After kissing Tori got out of Jake’s bed, making Jake whimper wanting his love back in his arms, winking at him she started to take off her shirt slowly to tease her man. Once it was off she slowly moved to taking off her bra and freeing her breasts. Chapter 14 *Finale*

Tori and Jake woke up to cheers resounding in the hall. Jake got up and quickly got dressed and Tori followed his example. As they raced down the hall to see what had caused the commotion, to see Cid talking to a plethora of colonists. Behind him, was a strange machine that neither of them had seen before, through the window, they could hear Cid saying “….With this we can send someone into the past and stop the disease that the U.S. had made as a bio-weapon, and close down the corporations that allowed it to be processed and made. We can make it so that our children and children’s children, can live in peace knowing that all is safe, I have made a vaccine though sparse right now. All we need is a volunteer to go back into the past to do this heroic deed. WHO WILL DO IT!?!” Cid exclaimed.

“That damned fool.” Tori muttered under her breath.

“Tori, I’m sorry.” Jake said to her.

“For what?” she asked

“I’m going, I won’t let another go not knowing that they won’t come back, it’s not fair on them or their loved ones.”

“What about me!?!” she exclaimed, with this all Jake did was avert his eyes, refusing to see her eyes.

“I have to do this, I love you Tori.” He kissed her before he stuck her right below her solar plexus, knocking the wind out of her, and then dashed down the hall till he reached the courtyard where Cid was still looking for a volunteer. “I’ll do it.” Jake said as he reached the stage Cid was at.

“Alright, Jake, come on up.” Leaning down to give Jake a hand he pulled him up onto the stage into the strange contraption that looked like an Iron Maiden minus the spikes that kill the person on the inside. “Just so you know Jake you appearance will change.”

“Whatever just send me where I have to go.”

“Alright.” With that, Cid walked to the controls and started pushing buttons; suddenly Jake saw a white light then all he saw was nothing but pure void….....

When Jake awoke he heard cars driving by, he was wearing all black and had long black hair. upon noticing this all he thought was “No fucking way.” He started down the alley he was in until he realized that he was in a military barracks. With no time to think, he started forward, moving faster than humanly possible “It changed more than my appearance,” he thought. Once he got to his target location, he pushed his way in, and moved secretly into the lower levels where whatever disease Cid was talking about was located. As he got lower, he ran into a guard who had his back turned, Jake took advantage of this, and broke the guard's neck, and took his weapon. As he did this the alarm started to sound in the building, hearing this he rushed forward towards the final door. Inside, he saw what he dreaded. The scientists inside were eating each other tearing the flesh off of each other, chewing on muscle and bone. Jake rushed in and emptied bullets into the heads of each scientist five in all. Only to realize that all the capsules were broken and thus, making him fail his only and most important mission. Since the capsules were broken, it meant that the pathogen was in the air and spreading throughout the base. Not wanting his younger self to die before he had a chance to live, he thought about how to get out, when he saw another flash of white light. Shaking away vertigo, he saw he was inside his old school's gymnasium storage room. He found himself on the floor next to a very young and innocent Tori. He walked to himself and said, “You need to find a way out of this mess, for if someone was bit, this room is perfect for infection, don’t you think.” Jake said.

“Yea you’re right.” Younger Jake said as he started to stand, feeling sick to his stomach, wondering if there was a way out.

“Heh, don’t worry you will get used to this feeling you’re having, trust me.” Jake said.

“How----” Young Jake started only to be the cutoff by Jake’s hand.

“Names are unimportant just know that I’ve gone through this before, I came back to try to stop this from happening but I have failed my mission. Shit, I think I’m the reason it happened.” Jake said to his younger self not wishing to explain, with that he saw another flash of light and he was on top of a hill.

He saw a horde of them. He looked around his surroundings and saw a sword lying in the grass, bloodied and worn. He picked it up and looked at the horde, knowing that he wouldn’t survive a head on onslaught; smiling to himself, he thought, “Hell, might as well go out with a bang. He rushed forward, lopping of heads and pushing his way into the heart of the horde, that’s when he noticed that the sword had broken; As the horde descended on him with a vengeance tearing off his flesh, as he screamed, the last thought in his head was Tori, then he died. Eaten alive by the very things he had brought to an unprepared world.
